Pilates and the Relief of Back Pain.
The regular practice of Pilates frees the body of poor postural habits, helping to heal back problems, and alleviate tension and fatigue.
The majority of all Pilates exercises begin within the body’s core muscles in the inner most abdominal region. This creates a strong foundation from which all future movements may be performed free of injury. By strengthening these inner most muscles and developing pelvic stabilization, the lower lumbar will be relieved of stress and “back pain” will be significantly decreased.
In addition Pilates also decompresses the joints, stimulating the body’s overall blood circulation. This enhanced circulation, combined with increased strength, motion, and a more balanced musculature, promotes healthy tissue growth and more efficient movement patterns.
